I have a 410 John D backhoe and I am having some problems with the hydrualics. The bucket shakes and is very slow. It will only lift about 1 foot off the ground. I can use it for about 5 minutes, and then the machine has to be turned off and restarted to get it to work at all. I was wondering if any one knows what it could be.

The de stroke solenoid is to start the machine when cold and it routs oil to the case of the pump which de strokes the hydraulic pump. There are more of those than any other cause of loosing hydraulics on a John . Check the voltage on it when your starting the tractor and as it is running also.

JD offered as parts or factory installed a relay kit to help starter solenoid engagement for tractors as far back as the 80's as yes it will help your 410.
The lever is shifted into forward or reverse but the tractor does not move. A light flashes on the display, the lever is the moved to neutral. Next, the lever is moved back into forward or reserve gear and the tractor moves. Sometimes when driving, a light on the dash flashes and the tractor stops.
For problems with the boom arms not rising or lowering correctly, it could mean that the gear pump is damaged. Consult your John dealer for this problem. If the hydrostatic charge pressure is low, it could mean that there is a malfunction of the charge pressure relief. The "relief" will need to be replaced by a John technician.

Jan 08, 2011· Thanks to all for the tips! The machine is about 200 miles from me right now and I will not be able to look at anything for a couple of days. I looked at the JD online parts catalog/fiche and it does mention a "hydraulic pump stroke control valve" and next to it on the list is a "hydraulic pump solenoid valve" I will have to check this for continuity .

Both driving the tractor, using the rear digger and the front bucket is not possible. I am thinking it might be the "feed pump" in the transmission that is broken.
